I’m a teenager, and I want to act in films. Can you help me?
If you want advice on how to get started and the best ways of getting auditions head over to the Acting Guide for full advice and tips. The first thing I would say to any young actor looking for a career in acting is simply to jump right into it by getting acting classes, performing in local drama clubs and amateur theatre groups. Any experience is great experience and you must always keep training.
Do you have any tips for having a really good audition?
All I can offer tips wise is to make a good impression by arriving on time and being generally enthusiastic. If you have access to the script definitely familiarize yourself with the story and the character – you want to be prepared if you are asked about what you think of the script. They want to see you as you, so just be yourself.
How often will you post casting calls?
Whenever calls for 10 – 21 year olds based in England and the UK turn up which is very rarely. Some castings pop up for teens based in the USA and of course I’m not going to pass those by without posting about them! But to put it simply don’t expect there to be lots.
Will there be any more open castings for films this year?
Unfortunately I’m not a professional yet nor am I psychic so I have no way of knowing if there will be an open castings especially specific to you. The information we post varies.
Can you let me know straight away of any casting calls?
For the moment, keep checking back to the site. It’s possible I may set up a mailing list in the future for those wishing to know immediately of any posted casting calls. Unfortunately there are too few casting calls for the specific audience I aim the site at to make a mailing list worth while.
Can I ‘join’ the site?
No, this is simply an information site – Straight From School is not an agency, directory or collective of aspiring actors. It is however a community, so keep checking back and commenting!
