Kio – TV Audition
Age: 18 Location: London
Kio was kind enough to talk about his audition process for a Nickelodeon series called ‘Anubis House‘. Check out the video where he talks about his experience and read his story below.
“This audition process started as any other, I received a call from my agent saying I had a casting for a new Nickelodeon TV series called ‘Anubis House’, and there were a large number of actors coming in and reading lines for 2-3 minutes each. Almost a month later I received a call saying I had a call back for the same show at the Lime Pictures studio in Liverpool. After a couple of auditions, about 6 or 7 of us received what was to be a final call back, of which the studio paid for us to stay in a hotel overnight for an early morning screen test.
Again, I was called back saying they liked me and needed to see how I worked with some other cast selections. After another screen test audition with new actors a few weeks a later, I received another call saying the casting directors had been changed and the casting process is starting again. I received yet again another call to audition for these new casting directors, and after what I believe is the most auditions in history for a part, my agent called to say I didn’t get the role, as the new casting directors had gone another way with it.
But we grow and move on as actors, can’t do much about it but smile and keep working!’
Olivia’s Comment
Thank you to Kio for sharing that – casting directors do sometimes change mid way through the casting process which can sometimes mean you’ll need to be seen again by different people! That doesn’t mean, however, that if you don’t get the job that the new casting director doesn’t like you. The final decisions are always made by the producers and directors.
So if you are auditioning for a new series – the first episode being called a ‘pilot’ episode – always expect recalls to go on forever! There are a huge amount of recalls and screen tests needed until the producers and studios are happy. Well done Kio for managing all those screen tests!
