Hey guys! Screenter have posted information on a new casting for a 14 year old boy and girl:
CBBC sitcom series Sadie J has been commissioned for a second series.
Georgia Lock will return in the lead role of the feisty 13 year old making her way in a male-dominated world.
There are some new characters coming in to the show and casting director Kerrie Mailey is currently looking for suggestions for the following:
Taylor, male, aged 14
(Especially looking for ethnic suggestions for this role)
Meet Taylor Bell – a drop dead gorgeous surfer dude. Taylor’s got the looks of
Justin Bieber and the clumsiness of a young Frank Spencer.Ashlii, female, aged 14
(Again especially looking for ethnic suggestions)
Essex born Ashlii is part fairy princess, part pit-bull. When Ashlii grows up she’s going to be Amy Childs (from The Only Way is Essex). Stylish, switched on, gorgeous and a supreme social networker (her smart phone is NEVER off). Please email kerriemailey81@googlemail.com only if you are right for these two roles currently casting.
If you think you are right for the part email the casting director with a photo of yourself and a CV. Thanks to Screenterrier for this information!

I sent in my Cv and headshot earlier today, although I don’t think I’ll be getting an audition because I live in N.Ireland and it’s held in London.
Thanks for posting this by the way!

I was wondering, what should I include in the CV?

Hi Artemis,
This would be the perfect place to link you to my CV article – if I had written it yet! I can see now it would be really, really helpful. In one of the last posts I pointed out what to add to an acting CV so I’m copying it below for reference;
“As for a CV, I have a CV article long overdue! For now I will suggest you simply create a document that has your name as a header, and directly beneath that put your important contact details. Where you live, your contact telephone number and email address. Beneath that pop your date of birth, height, hair colour, eye colour etc, and all those kinds of basics. Below that you list your credits – you do not need to have professional experience but it is good to reference any performances you’ve been a part of. Note what drama coaching or classes you have attended and also be sure to add your skills below too. These can be anything from dancing, singing to horse riding, archery or juggling! Don’t be afraid to send your info, there’s no way you can make a fool of yourself!
Remember, you are not expected to have professional credits. These kind of open casting calls are particularly looking for good actors but experience and credits aren’t necessities. If they were, they would not be inviting anyone to get in touch!”
Good luck Nicky, it does seem they may be after actors closer to production but why not indeed!
Hope this helps and best wishes.

can this character be played by a black actor.. i have applied but i dnt put in my cv because i dnot ha one . iam 15 years i live in birmingham. i’m 5’5 in hieght
Sam says:

I am not from Essex but I applied anyway since CBBC often seem generally open to people that do not quite meet the criteria. I don’t think I’ll be getting this part but I’ll even be happy if I get the audition, and some more experience!! And btw Shantel, I’m pretty sure any ethnicity is welcomed, but writing a CV would really help. They are pretty easy to do and really important if you are interested in casting calls like this one. Olivia’s CV article is awesome, so you should try writing one using that. Hope this helps, Sam xx

Hey Sam, thanks! You’re right, it’s good to give it a go for experience.
Shantel, it states in the casting call that they welcome ethnic suggestions so they are more interested in black, asian or any other ‘ethnic’ type of actor. Do write a CV as you will need one time and time again and it’s very useful to have one.

.
Olivia says:

Hi Beryl! I believe they have already had auditions but are still casting. If you have not been contacted already I would assume you will not be contacted for the project – but of course the process might take a while.
Good luck to those auditioning!

Olivia,
Kerrie Mailey invited me to the previous castings of Sadie J series 2 a day before the casting took place but I didn’t check my e-mail in time so I didn’t know about it till a day after. What should I reply to her to see if there is another casting date that I could attend?
Olivia says:
May 7, 2011
Hi Cady,
Good reminder for the future to constantly check email now, haha! It’s okay to respond thanking her for her email and simply to ask when a next session would be as you are looking forward to meeting her. Keep it short and sweet. Simple! Email as soon as possible so that she knows you are still interested. It is a weekend of course so don’t expect a response until the week.
Good luck!

i rea dit on a diferent website and it diddnt say i had to include a cv. i am only 11. do you think that will be alright? i did include vital information.
Olivia says:
May 8, 2011
Hi Elise,
No, it should not be an issue.
You seem a bit young for this breakdown (the breakdown is asking for actors who are or look the age of 14) so perhaps don’t expect a response regarding this character.

Hi,
I auditioned for this. Can you tell me how long it will be before I know the outcome?
X
Olivia says:
May 9, 2011
Hi Lucy,
You may get a response tomorrow, next week, in a few months time or never! It depends entirely on production requirements (i.e. when shooting begins and when they need to be cast by). Remember if they have decided not to see you again, they will not get in touch.

Have they cast these characters yet?
I didn’t get a response and probably won’t, like last time I auditioned for her (for the 4 O’clock club) and didn’t get a response because I live too far from London :L (Well I think it was that because I’ve matched the characters descriptions etc.)
I wonder if she’ll ever hold auditions in Northern Ireland?
It’s quite annoying, Good luck to everyone else though(:

Hi Oliver,
Thanks for your reply.
Oh well I shall keep my fingers crossed.
It was lovely to meet Kerrie Mailey anyway.
Goodluck to everyone who auditioned.

Could I audition for a role even though I’m Indian (the name “ashlii” sounds english) also, I recently turned 16, would this be an issue? (I look very young for my age).
Anna says:

Shame she has to be from Essex! I sound quite posh annoyingly! Maybe if I move to Essex for a couple weeks I’ll get in! Do you think they would accept people who aren’t essex-ish and not 14. I am tall and look older than I am. (12)

Chloe says:
Jul 11, 2011
Hi I am 14 and an ‘ethnic’ but only just saw this. Is it too late to contact?
Olivia says:
Jul 11, 2011
Sally, it is common for casting directors to not get back to you as they are far too busy to reply to all of the hundreds of messages they receive! As much as they would like to, they do not have the time to do so. Expect this from all casting directors. Please read the post carefully – casting is not done through anyone at this website.
Chloe, yes auditions are over now.
