Casting director Maggie Lunn (who has previously been head of casting at the RSC and National Theatre) is currently working on a new film adaptation of the novel ‘Broken‘ to be directed by Rufus Norris in association with BBC Films.
The casting team is in search of a white or mixed race girl aged between 11 and 14 (playing age 11) for the lead role.
SKUNK CUNNINGHAM (lead, female, aged 11) has a loving dad, an absent mother and a brother (13) they live on a quiet suburban street in London. But they have the neighbours from hell – The Oswalds. A small act of cruelty by one of the Oswald girls leads to increasingly troubled events.
Leading role in the film; we need a really great girl, confident in her acting.

I was going to go but realized I can’t since I’m from Northern Ireland, I emailed the woman and she said that it was okay and I could send her my cv and photo.
But I have no professional experience other than school and drama classes by a drama coach. I don’t have a cv either.
How do you make one?? [:
I don’t really want to send it though and make a fool of myself. :L

Hey Abbey, there aren’t many free sites that post casting calls. Do take a look at this website’s guide to Casting Websites here: http://straightfromschool.org/media/casting-websites for more info on them.
Hi Leah, there are no particular physical requirements (except you must be White or Mixed Race) so do not feel put off to go and be seen!
Hi Nicky, great stuff! Certainly email her a snapshot of yourself – it does not need to be professional but avoid a myspace/facebook type picture. Instead get a friend or family member to take a snapshot of you in natural light with your hair off your face. This will show off all your features and let them see what you look like in best, natural lighting.
As for a CV, I have a CV article long overdue! For now I will suggest you simply create a document that has your name as a header, and directly beneath that put your contact details. Beneath that pop your date of birth, height, hair colour, eye colour etc, and then list your credits – you do not need to have professional experience but it is good to reference any performances you’ve been a part of. Note what drama coaching or classes you have attended and also be sure to add your skills. These can be anything from dancing, singing to horse riding, archery or juggling! Don’t be afraid to send your info, there’s no way you can make a fool of yourself!
Remember, you are not expected to have professional credits. These kind of open casting calls are particularly looking for good actresses but experience and credits aren’t necessities. If they were, they would not be holding an open casting.
Hope this helped and good luck!

Hi, I’m Esme.
I’d absolutely adore to be in your film but I wouldn’t be able to be there for 10am. I’d love to break into the acting circuit and if I do audition, I’d put my all into it. Is it OK for people to turn up late?
x
Thank you

it’s a shame, my mum probably won’t let me go on such short notice, i mean it’s on sunday, why couldn’t i have done some research last week, plus i’m not confident, i got a 7a in drama for my past two assesments but i just get embarrsed about acting because i’m afraid someone is just gonna stand up and laugh at me D: it’s a shame
