Actors aren’t just needed for film and theatre. Actors can get lots of very good work in role play, commercials, theatre in education and voice over. There’s a lot of work to be had in voiceovers; think radio, radio plays, commercials (radio and TV), cartoons, dubbing and lots, lots more.
Voice artiste Susan Sheridan has worked extensively doing voice work in the 80s and 90s, particularly children’s cartoons including ‘Noddy‘, ‘The Moomins‘ and Disney’s ‘The Black Cauldron‘. Take a look at my video interview with Sue below, who talks about her work and also explains about how to get started.
Directors for radio and schools’ English tapes are always after children’s voices – especially those who have clear and easy to work with voices. If you’re able to hone your skills at reading from a script and taking direction you may be perfect to get involved. Keep practicing those accents and characters!

Voice-over work is so much of fun! I spent a day with a DJ when she was doing stings (promos) for her radio show. I really want to try it out. =) cool interview!

It’s so much fun seeing what radio is like behind the scenes isn’t it?
